A short guide to BacktestAI: how to start, how to work with the Quant AI agent, and what each part of the app does.

Getting started

Create an account with your email or with Google. You land in Quant Lab, where the Quant AI agent is waiting. There is nothing to install: the agent writes the code, and every test runs on our own MetaTrader 5 terminals.

  1. Describe a trading idea in your own words, for example “make gold scalp”.
  2. Answer the agent's questions and approve its blueprint.
  3. Read the test it runs, then ask for changes or a new version.

Talking with the agent

The agent works through six steps, and tells you which one it is on:

Discuss
It talks your idea through, asks what is missing, and researches real sources.
Design
It draws up a blueprint. Every rule shows where it came from, and nothing is built until you approve it.
Build
It writes the complete Expert Advisor in MQL5 and compiles it, repairing its own errors.
Test
It runs the strategy on real tick data in a real MetaTrader 5 terminal.
Analyse and report
It measures the result and tells you the real numbers, even when they are bad.
Iterate
You ask for a change and it starts again, keeping every version.

Choosing the model

Under the message box you choose who thinks and how hard:

  • Auto uses Muse Spark 1.3 for most work and Muse Wonder 1.0 for heavy tasks. It is the right choice almost always.
  • Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor for fast work, charts and images.
  • Muse Wonder 1.0 for deep reasoning and MQL5 code.
  • Thinking: Fast, Balanced or Deep.

Voice and images

Press the microphone to speak your idea; Muse Voice Transcribe 1.0 writes it down. Attach a chart image and the agent reads it.

Your strategies

Every strategy keeps its versions, each with its code, its test results and its trades on a chart. Download the .mq5 file whenever you want it. The Strategy Library lists them all, and Strategy Comparison puts two side by side.

Backtest Studio

Backtest Studio is a practice desk on real market history. Start a session, choose the market and the dates, and replay the chart candle by candle at the speed you want. Open and close trades by hand; no real money is involved.

  • AI Watcher: Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor reads the chart of each of your trades and tells you what to keep, what to stop and what to adjust in your own behaviour.
  • AI Strategy Cloner: turns the trades you took by hand into written rules, which the agent can then build into an Expert Advisor.
  • Trading Journal: keeps every session and what you learned from it.

Markets in Backtest Studio today: XAUUSD, EURUSD, US30 and USTEC.

Sharing in the Community

You can publish a strategy from Quant Lab. Before it appears, it passes three gates:

  1. The Quant AI agent reads the code and stops cheats, such as trades placed on hard-coded past dates.
  2. The platform runs a mandatory five-year test on a real MetaTrader 5 terminal. You cannot type the numbers in.
  3. Other traders can test it themselves, on any dates they choose.

You choose how to share it:

  • Open source: free; anyone can read the code and fork it into their own lab.
  • Pro EA: shared as a compiled .ex5. Others can test it, and its code never leaves the server.

Traders can star strategies, comment on them and message each other directly, with live notifications.

Questions

Do I need MetaTrader 5?

Not to build or test. Every test runs on our terminals. You need MetaTrader 5 only to trade the Expert Advisor yourself.

Are the results real?

Yes. Every number comes from a test in a real MetaTrader 5 terminal on real tick data, and the agent reports it as it is, even when a strategy loses.

Does a good backtest mean the strategy will make money?

No. A backtest shows how a strategy behaved in the past; markets change, and broker costs differ. Read the risk disclaimer.

Which AI is behind the agent?

Meta's Muse models, through the Meta Model API: Muse Spark 1.3, Muse Wonder 1.0, Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor and Muse Voice Transcribe 1.0.
